Q: Is Empower Diaspora a nonprofit organization?

Yes. Empower Diaspora is incorporated as a nonprofit social welfare organization under section 501(c)(4) of the Internal Revenue Code. Our mission is to empower and amplify the voices of African immigrant communities through public advocacy, civic engagement & education, leadership development, and mobilization.

 

Q: Are donations to Empower Diaspora tax-deductible?

No. Contributions to 501(c)(4) organizations are not tax-deductible as charitable contributions. However, your support enables us to directly advocate for policies and programs that uplift our communities, and we appreciate your support.

 

Q: Has Empower Diaspora received IRS determination as a 501(c)(4)?

We have filed the required Form 8976 with the IRS to notify them of our intent to operate as a 501(c)(4). We are currently operating in compliance with federal guidelines. While an official IRS determination (via Form 1024-A) is not required to operate, we are to filing it for transparency and institutional purposes.

 

Q: How will my donation be used?

Your contribution supports our core programming, community mobilization efforts, policy advocacy, and educational outreach to ensure African immigrant communities have the tools and support they need to thrive.
